Hugely popular overseas and in the UK, It'll be sad news to fans of the Shelby clan especially considering how Season 5 drew record audiences for the BBC and people around the world binge-watching on Netflix.

We do know the answers to some of Peaky Blinders season six questions, thanks to knight and the cast who have dropped some juicy details about production of the show.

What's the latest news?

  • Season six which has been confirmed to be the last show will begin production in January 2021.
  • Creator Steven Knight says that the show will be back with a bang and continue in another form.

Production and filming for the much-anticipated sixth season of the show had previously been underway before the coronavirus pandemic. From January 2021, it's in the early stages of firing again.

"The safety of our cast and crew is always our priority. With our supportive partners at Netflix and BBC, we have been working diligently to ensure we can get safely back into production," executive producer Caryn Mandabach said in a statement.

What We Expect From Season Six

The dramatic season 5 finale saw how Tommy Shelby was betrayed during his failed assassination attempt on Oswald Mosley and the later breakdown where he threatened to kill himself by pointing a gun to his temple.

Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne recently says, "It picks up directly where it left off, the first image you will see will be back in that field where Tommy had a gun in his head. Then we will move on from that amazing moment."

No doubt that we will see the Shelbys set on the path to war. We may also see Tommy looking out for who double-crossed him.

"There will also be a new female character who is pretty dark and will certainly give Tommy a run for his money.," he added.

Peaky Blinders Season 6 Episodes: How many episodes will season six have?

The first episode of the sixth and final season will be titled "Black Day" which will start with Tommy Shelby in the field where he had a gun on his head. The name of the first episode was revealed by a photo of the script which Byrne posted on Instagram.

We expect the sixth and final season to be also six episodes long, seeing that each season until now has been having six episodes, though this hasn't been confirmed yet.

Peaky Blinders Season 6 Cast

The ending of season five we saw Tommy Shelby breaking down and pointing a gun to his head. The story will pick up where it left so we expect to see Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Helen McCroy as Polly Gray, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thome, and Finn Cole as Michael Gray.

Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby preparing for Season Six

We also saw on season 5 finale British fascist Sam Clafin as Oswald Mosley survive a failed assassination plot by Tommy, so we expect to see him return in season 6.

Tom Hardy who played Alfie Solomon got us in shock in the fifth season after the revelation that he was still alive after being shot by Tommy in season 4 and so Hardy fans can cross their fingers for his return on the final season.

Anya Taylor-Joy, The Queen's Gambit star will also return as Gina Grey.

We also know there'll be a mysterious new female character who will challenge Tommy Shelby.

How To Stream and Watch Peaky Blinders Season 6

Director Anthony Byrne said that, "We were due to start filming at the end of March 2020 until the end of July, so if we did start in January 2021, we wouldn't finish until May/June 2021 and then another six months of editing."

Peaky Blinders Movie?

Yes, there will be a movie. It has been confirmed that there will be a Peaky Blinders movie after the series ends. The story will continue in a movie spin off after season six which is the final outing for the show. Don't worry too much about saying goodbye to the show after the season 6 finale.

"There was originally talk of a seventh season to wrap up the story. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen," series creator Knight said.
